Some of our guides link to places where you can get tested or buy health products, such as at-home STI test kits and testing services. Some of those links may be affiliate links. This page explains what that means.

If you click an affiliate link and buy something, the company may pay us a commission. It doesn’t cost you anything extra, and you never have to use our link: you can always go to the company directly. Affiliate links help pay for Bud’s free guides.

How we label them

Every guide with affiliate links says so near the top and next to the links. Links to free public resources, such as clinic finders and public health sites, are never affiliate links.

How we choose what to recommend

  • We list free and low-cost options, such as public health clinics, alongside paid ones, even though free options earn us nothing.
  • Partners can’t pay to be included, to rank higher, or to change what a guide says.
  • We say what’s good and what isn’t about every option, including our partners.
  • Health information in our guides is checked against public health sources such as the CDC, not against what partners say.

What partners learn about you

When you click a partner link, the partner’s website can see that you came from getbud.app and may record what you do on its site, under its own privacy policy. We don’t send partners your email address or anything else about you, and we don’t receive your test results or what you bought. We may learn that a purchase happened, so the partner can pay us.
